We're back

Coach arrived safely back at school just before 3.45 pm.

We hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Fwd: On our way...

We are all enjoying a good film to keep us entertained on our long journey.

We're on our way

We have set off after a slight delay.

Our current E.T.A is 4.00 pm.

We will do our best to keep you informed of any changes to this.

Friday morning activities

We have launched our Egg rockets and now we are setting off up to Treak Cavern.

We are taking a special route so that those children who missed out on GPS tracking are enjoying a tour through the village on their way.

A very good breakfast!

All full now, after a fantastic breakfast!
We're now going to try our Egg Rocket launch! Very Egg-siting times!

Friday morning (early)

We are all up, dressed and packed. Everything is ready for the coach so we can now enjoy the rest of the morning.

We are just waiting for our second helping of cooked breakfast!

It is a clear blue sky so we're attempting our big walk again this morning! Let's keep our fingers crossed we make it further than the first field today!

Thursday 23 February 2017

Thursday late

It's quiet.
Children settled quickly and are asleep now.

We hope everyone has a peaceful night.

Candle dipping

The children enjoyed candle dipping this evening and now we're trying to relax a little before bed with an A - Z quiz.

Quiz part 1

Before our candle dipping, we're doing a quick famous faces quiz - can you spot our local celebrity?

Thursday dinner/tea

We are going for our dinner now. We will be having either burgers or jacket potatoes with different fillings and then jam roly poly and custard for pudding! Let's hope it's clean plates all round again just like last night!

This evening we are going to be enjoying candle making and a scavenger hunt.

Living history

This afternoon we have deciphered ancient Runes and now we are creating a living timeline of British history. We started with the Celts and worked our way through to the Norman's at the Battle of Hastings, we found out some excellent gruesome facts and loved dressing up and looking at their various weapons.

We are hoping to get outside even if for only an hour before dinner as the weather has cleared a little now.

Indoor activities

We've played a fantastic game of bingo to keep us all entertained whilst we sit out the storm! The wind here is incredible but we're much happier inside!

Thursday re-arrangements

For safety reasons, our activities are being re-organised at Castleton.

The weather today is not suitable for some of the planned programme so, for example, it isn't sensible to do the cavern walk and tour today.

This afternoon, we will be doing some indoor activities and, weather and ground conditions permitting, the visit to the cavern can take place tomorrow. Quite rightly, safety of the children is the main priority.

Wet and windy Thursday morning

We started our walk full of optimism, but storm Doris has beaten us and we are back at the hostel.

We are having a hot chocolate and re-grouping before maybe trying again later!

"And the Academy Award for the Best Actor demonstrating "cold and windswept" goes to...."

Thursday breakfast

Breakfast this morning was a full English or cereals!
We have been "stocking up" well as we have a long day ahead!

It is looking a bit wet and windy for our walk but we will be braving the elements!

Thursday morning

Everyone is up.

It was very windy around the building last night so some of us were woken up by the noise of the wind - and then there was an unscheduled fire alarm too quite early in the morning (caused by a system fault)!

We're now just getting dressed and heading down for breakfast just before 8 o'clock.

Wednesday 22 February 2017

Wednesday night

All the children are in bed now - and most are a lot more tired than they would like to admit!

They have a lovely long walk ahead to them tomorrow so a god night's sleep is called for.

We wish you all a very good night in Castleton.

Gem panning

Gem panning in action....

Wednesday evening

Dinner was lovely and all the children ate all of their vegetables and some even had some salad!

We've just started planning our "egg rockets" and Miss White says that the children have made sure they all have eggs-elent names! We're looking forward to the rocket launches tomorrow!

Some of us are gem panning first this evening - searching for the precious stones in the murky water! There have already been some interesting finds!

Wednesday dinner/tea

We are just off for dinner. It's sausages, mashed potatoes and gravy with chocolate mousse for pudding.

After dinner we have two more activities - gem panning and then building egg rockets!

Wednesday afternoon activities

This afternoon all groups have been doing the "jumbleese challenge".  This is a scavenger hunt of mixed up words.

Mr Knight's class are now fossil making while Miss Barnes' class have been enjoying some shelter building! (There have been good strong winds to add to their fun.)

After this we'll be off to our rooms for some relaxation before tea!

GPS

All finished our GPS challenge and now back to the hostel.

GPS Tracking

4K are out enjoying a brief spell of sunshine following our GPS trackers around the village.

Lunch

We are now sat enjoying our sandwiches before we get straight into our afternoon activities.

Safe arrival

The coach (and everyone aboard) has arrived safely and we're having lunch now.

We're on our way

Everyone's on the coach and we're on our way!

We're almost off

Everyone is getting on the coach now.

Tuesday 21 February 2017

One more night and then....

There are plenty of excited Year 4 children looking forward to setting off on their residential visit tomorrow.
We hope everything is packed.

Sleep well... and see you tomorrow!
